#entrepreneur inspiration with Dr. Angelique S. Jackson
Who are you and what do you do in 30 words or less?
My name is Dr. Angelique S. Jackson and I am the innovator of Miss Congeniality Girls/Mister Chivalrous Gents (MCG). MCG is a present day approach to social and emotional wellness for adolescent boys and girls. We use yoga, mindfulness awareness techniques, etiquette comportment, and social entrepreneurship to developing the whole child.
How do you remain empowered as an entrepreneur?
I remained empowered by seeing my dreams and vision come to life. I also whole heartedly feel that I am doing God’s work because this whole concept and brand came to me as a vision during a spiritual fast. Furthermore, I try to surround myself around others with similar visions and a die-hard passion for entrepreneurship. Lastly, I aim to stay current on the latest research and trends in the industry.
How do you remain equipped as an entrepreneur, where/how do you fuel your growth?
Well, again as I mentioned in the previous question, I seek out new ways to inform me of best practices and strategies to make sure I am providing research sound solutions as well as to stay relevant in this field. It is emotional difficult at times to fuel your growth because, as the owner, you have to have your hands in all aspects of your business and it makes it difficult at times to create. When I am feeling like this, I step away and pray, read about other entrepreneurs and day dream about future potential.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my 20 years of being an educator and being able to ascertain, what I feel, was the missing link to educating children. No matter how hard I may try to pull away from this field, I am always pulled back instantaneously, again because I feel the vision was birthed through God and He reminds me I have work to do.
What is your “WHY” —- why do you do what you do?
I do what I do because really, “It just makes sense to me.” I honestly feel that it is no-brainer approach/solution to the development and well- being of our children.
What is your #1 tip for other entrepreneurs?
I often like to borrow the infamous Picasso quote to this question-when asked what was his best painting he ever created and his response was that he hasn’t created it yet-so in essence my tip would be “The Best is Yet to come as long as you remain committed to your vision, passion and craft.”
