#entrepreneur inspiration with Missy B. Salick
Who are you and what do you do in 30 words or less?
I am Missy B. Salick, author of Claiming Jeremiah and founder of Virgo Girl Media, Inc. I help people stop dreaming about entrepreneurship and start creating it by helping them turn their passion into profit.
How do you remain empowered as an entrepreneur?
One of the most important things for an entrepreneur to stay empowered is their team. I personally surround myself on a constant basis with a group of people who believe in my company/brand just as much as I do. I also network often to meet other passionate entrepreneurs and people who have the same passion and drive.
Second, always expect the unexpected. People tend to get comfortable being in the role of an entrepreneur, thinking that because they are building something from scratch they will know all the answers or that everything will come their way. This is not the case. Every day will be different and you will be faced with a different challenge. The more successful you become, the more challenges you will face.
And third, stay true to yourself and remember why you started this business. Do not get off course just because someone is moving faster than you or is reaching a higher level of success. Keep at your own pace.
How do you remain equipped as an entrepreneur, where/how do you fuel your growth?
To remain equipped as an entrepreneur you have to step outside your comfort zone and expand your horizon. In any area that you are not comfortable with on a social level, be prepared to be introduced to this being an entrepreneur. For me it was public speaking. While I have not mastered this skill I know that being an author and entrepreneur it’s unavoidable. Especially since I want to change the world, so to speak. LOL. Be prepared to push past your boundaries. Expand your horizon and network with other people who are more knowledgeable and successful in the field you are trying to master. Attend networking events, read books weekly, feed your brain.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration first comes from my family, whom I want to set an example for and show them there is another way to life besides what society would have us think. Second, the people I come in contact with on a daily basis who want to make a life change, but are afraid or not sure how. These people motivate me to do more and push myself to the limit. Third, I am my biggest inspiration. I believe so much in Virgo Girl Media and know we can help and change many lives. I am ready for this journey and can’t wait to see what happens with this one life I have.
What is your “WHY” —- why do you do what you do?
My why is to build a community of creativepreneurs who support and help one another, rather than seeing one another as competition. We would like to see more minorities and our future generations own businesses or in control of their career paths. I want to close the gap between industry leaders and aspiring ones. So many millionaires charge outrageous prices for speaking events, yet you never get to pick their brain or be able to meet them one-on-one. How are you really helping people who attend these events? Yes, you may get some knowledge; however, each person, each business, is different. We are not all the same and we all have different problems. At Virgo Girl Media, we plan to give you all the information we know. We welcome feedback, suggestions, and topics to discuss and we will try our best to find the answers. We welcome emails to pick our brain. We make all the mistakes and share them so you won’t have to.
What is your #1 tip for other entrepreneurs?
Be true to yourself, absorb as much information as you can, and if there isn’t a lane for what you are doing, don’t be afraid to create one.
