Who are you and what do you do in 30 words or less?

I’m a passionate supporter of entrepreneurship and I seek to promote change, happiness and to disrupt the norm.M.Luchies

How do you remain empowered as an entrepreneur?

Being an empowered entrepreneur is as simple as not accepting unacceptable truths and commonalities in our daily lives and in society. There has never been a time where more opportunities exist, yet we often doubt our abilities and chances to succeed due to a perceived risk. The riskiest course of action in the world we live in is tossing aside your passion to work a 9-5 and fulfilling someone else’s goals and dreams instead of your own.  This is easier said than done, but reminding yourself of what you want to be, the changes in the world you strive to make and what truly makes you happy will help keep you focused in your path and empowered as an entrepreneur.

How do you remain equipped as an entrepreneur, where/how do you fuel your growth?

Growth as an entrepreneur should come from deep within you. As a husband, a father, and an entrepreneur, I have a strong desire to be great, and this inspires me to grow.

If you are struggling to grow your business or yourself, focus on what you love to do and are truly passionate about to get you to the next level. Find others to focus on the aspects that you may not as strong at or like doing as much.

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration has drastically changed over the past decade. We all have to find what motivates us. That used to be a large salary and a stable job. Now my inspiration comes from my family and my network. I am inspired by the work of others and the shape that entrepreneurship is taking around the world. There is a rising trend to benefit others instead of only yourself through profits. This is inspiring to want to change the world in a positive way and make a better life for those around me.

What is your “WHY” —- why do you do what you do?

My why is selfish. I need this for me. I work hard for my family, but I’m not truly happy unless I feel that I can make a substantial difference, which is what I believe I am doing.

What is your #1 tip for other entrepreneurs?

Always be open to learning and to change. We often get so caught up in our ideas and business that we refuse to adapt to changes in technology, our industry, etc. Neglecting changes and opportunities is will lead to falling behind and losing what you worked so hard to build.

Who are you and what do you do in 30 words or less?

My name is Evan Roberts. I am the President of Empowered People Press, LLC and the author of “How to Become Influential and Highly Successful: The Young Adult Success Manual.” My mission in life is to empower people to live life on their terms. I do this through the empowerment books, workshops, mentoring groups, and seminars that I host.

How do you remain empowered as an entrepreneur?

workbook

My empowerment comes from several places. First, I have a very strong reason or why backing what I do. The freedom to spend as much time as possible with my wife and our son keeps me driven and focused. Second, I am a student of empowerment. Every day, I am listening, reading, and engaging in a book, an audio, a discussion, etc., that further validates the principles that I live by. Third, I believe in the power of God and the power of the human spirit to achieve what it wants. I meditate specifically on what I desire most and I keep that thought in the forefront of my mind in everything that I do.

How do you remain equipped as an entrepreneur, where/how do you fuel your growth?

I remain equipped by constantly learning individually and stretching my limits. I have a personal library with 100’s of books and audios that allow me to sharpen my mental saw daily. I also connect with and learn from others. For example, I recently attended a networking event in Hyde Park. One of the speakers shared some business insights on branding and marketing that I really took to heart. I acted on his information the next day and I’ve experienced positive results since. Last, I remain humble. I know that there is always someone that I can learn from and I don’t have all of the answers. I seek out people who are ahead of where I am for mutual benefit.

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration comes from my wife first and foremost. Our son is a very close second! Having a family and being able to build something meaningful together is very exciting to me. I am also inspired by all of the success stories that I have read over the course of my life. They have served as a personal motivational tool. I would also say that my inspiration is derived from challenging myself from within. I enjoy testing my limits and experiencing the pleasure of accomplishment!

What is your “WHY” —- why do you do what you do?

As I mentioned earlier, my “WHY” has to do with the freedom to enjoy my family with little to no constraints. My “WHY” is also centered on service to people because I believe that if a person is genuinely impacting people’s lives in positive way and serving from the heart, he/she deserves to experience all that life offers. I appreciate the opportunity to empower our youth because of the imprint that can be made and sustained generation to generation. I work with some truly talented young people. They deserve models of excellence that they can use as a blueprint to achieve their goals and dreams.

What is your #1 tip for other entrepreneurs?

My #1 tip for other entrepreneurs is to understand that your success is only going to happen with and through people. To that end, what are you doing each day to enhance your personal effectiveness? How are you improving your networking skills? When do people realize that you are all about win/win?

My Wacky Wednesday + Trusting Your Vision!

My Wacky Wednesday + Trusting Your Vision!

trustEntrepreneurship is certainly not as easy as pie. In fact, it can be more complex than a Rubik’s Cube! There will be days when you soar above the clouds and days when you feel as if life is caving in quicker than you can imagine.

TODAY WAS WACKY WEDNESDAY!

I must admit, today I caved in fast and furious.  Every which way I turned the cave got deeper and deeper! The morning was filled with client emergencies, fires that could not be put out, products that did not arrive as promised, and kids that needed mom when they were supposed to be self-sufficient by now (ages 6 and 11). Oh, yes, a rush job got cancelled at the last minute, we missed our radio show because of 1,001 emergencies and to top that off with a cherry… we lost one of our largest clients due to unforeseen circumstances. Not even Superwoman could save my day! Above all, I had quite a few instances where I let fear set in.   I share all of this because I want to encourage and inspire others to NEVER GIVE UP!  Even when you think you are super-duper-entrepreneur, life and business situations can change within the blink of an eye. I also believe that many entrepreneurs feel that they are “alone” in all of the challenges that they face. You are not alone.

TRUST YOUR VISION

With all of the trials, tribulations, adversity, let-downs and issues that rose with today’s sun, I had to step back and remind myself that… I am an E-N-T-R-E-P-R-E-N-E-U-R. Duhhh, we were made for days like this, remember? Strong, courageous, flexible, resilient, brave, faithful, fearless and full of VISION. What the heck was I thinking?

We all have days like this. Heck, we will have months like this. What we must remember is that we were built for this. Embrace change, tackle those issues, remain triumphant, remind yourself that you are here because you once had a VISION. In summary, slow down, take a breath and remember to “Trust Your Vision.”

So… after that morning, I came up with a few ideas to divert my attention, regain my composure and re-invigorate myself. I think they are pretty simple, and they got the job done. Just thought I’d share in case you find yourself in a similar situation…

  • Grab a coffee (or your favorite drink) – you know, the one that makes you smile 🙂
  • Go outside. Get some Vitamin D – it does wonders for the body, mind and spirit.
  • Call your coach (or your mom) (or both!) – if you don’t have a coach, I suggest you find one. We all need one. My mom was at work 🙁
  • Pick up a pen + your journal – draw and doodle for a while (it lets out tension), write about your ‘vision’ for your business and remind yourself WHY you chose this path to begin with!
  • Exercise or take a walk – I took a walk and meditated a bit. This helped me regain my composure and resurface after all the craziness!

Of course, everyone will bounce back in their own due time, but sometimes you need to allow yourself a little pick me up time. Allow yourself a bit of sunshine in on a gloomy and tough day. Allow yourself a bit of creative freedom by grabbing that pen and paper. Allow yourself to vent to a friend or business coach that you know has your best interest at hand. Allow yourself to STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER and take an “entrepreneur’s time-out” ~ and finally, allow yourself to “trust your vision” and you’ll be on the road to a better day tomorrow!  My ultimate words of wisdom for this scenario: do not keep all of this “hoopla” inside or you will burst!
